Top Ten Reasons.
Think about it.
Listen. We are easy to reach without having to go over the Cape Cod bridges: the Sagamore Bridge and the Bourne bridge. If you have tried to get to the Cape in the summer months, you are well aware of the horrendous traffic problems and tie-ups that occur when trying to negotiate crossing the Cape Cod Canal over either one of the bridges. The traffic can be backed up for miles.
We are located on the Weweantic River, which is between Marion & Wareham. We are either 5 minutes from exit 20 (Marion) off route 195 or 10 minutes from exit 2 (route 58) off route 495, going towards the Cape.
Remember that these are the top ten reasons, but there are many more that you will find when you rent your slip at Wareham Boatyard Marina.
The mouth off the Weweantic River is considered one of the finest fishing areas in Buzzards Bay. It is about an hours boat ride to Martha’s Vinyard from our dock.
Not only that, but we are an hour away from some of the finest fishing on the Cape - The south side of Cuttyhunk Island - Stripers and and Bluefish abound in those waters.
Did I mention that you could get to your boat and use the waters around the Cape without having to drive over any of the bridges. How about that for a top ten reason?
Why be caught in that traffic which can delay reaching your designation for hours owing to the horrific traffic problem at the Cape Cod bridges?
Perhaps the greatest benefit of using our facility is that the water in the Wewantic River is relatively calm so that you can enjoy your boating without having to venture out into Nantucket Sound or Massachusetts Bay.
Furthermore, it is just a short trip to the Cape Cod Canal.
Our boat docks were made in Canada and feature the best construction in the Cape Cod area. We have water, electricity and gas. Our friendly staff is here to meet your needs.
The marina is designed for powerboats between 18 ft. to 26 ft. We have trained (marine certified) mechanics to “keep you on the water”. You don’t have to compete with 40-50 ft. yachts for service.
Wareham Boatyard and Marina is a full service marina offering launch & hauling service, summarization (wash & wax, bottom paint, complete engine service – I/O & outboards), winterization (power wash, shrink-wrap, engine and water system service, storage). We allow you to choose which of our services you wish to use, enabling you to control some of the costs (or have us do it all !!).
We are a full service (warranty authorized) dealer for Mercury and Mercruiser motors and parts. We also service Yamaha, Volvo, Johnson/Evinrude, OMC, Honda and Suzuki. We stock most of the normal service items for all manufactures.
We have bathrooms, outside shower, coffee, donuts, ice, sodas, and you are a short drive to shopping (Wareham Crossing Mall) and restaurants. No laundry services. The Wareham Crossing Mall is minutes away and has many big box stores including Target, Lowes, L.L.Bean Outlet (Need a canoe or kayak), Best Buy, etc.
We mark the river with buoys for navigating the Weweantic River but the channel is narrow at points and inside the bridge the water depth is 3 ft. at low tide. In a nutshell, any powerboat not over 26 feet will have no trouble reaching or leaving our docks.
We have extremely competitive price for our slips, boat docks & our services.
We are not in Falmouth or Hyannis, so you are not in with the rich and famous set (but neither is our pricing).
We are on the Weweantic River between West Wareham (Rose Point) and Marion.
We have a bridge limitation of 5 feet at high tide on the Weweantic River, which means for boats that are above 5 feet above the water line you will lose access beyond the route 6 bridge, one (1) hour either side of high tide for every foot of extra height (max. height is 11 ft.)
That means that the following types of boats are prohibited from reaching our docks:
· No fixed “T” tops/radar arches · No Sailboats · No flying bridge power boats
Why not visit us on your next boating trip to Cape Cod. You will be well served at Wareham Boatyard and Marina.
